Women who want to promote cultural exchange, broaden their knowledge and make new friends: welcome to the Lyceum Club Belgium
The Lyceum Club International de Belgique is part of the International Association of Lyceum Clubs, which is present in 17 countries. The Lyceum Club International de Belgique exists to promote understanding, listening and respect, and to create friendships based on mutual interests. The ambition of this club, originally based in London, was to promote and offer women from all over the world a place to speak out, a place for free and safe cultural exchange. Compared to the London men's clubs, it was a place for women to get together, strengthen their bonds and share their interests in the arts, sciences and social concerns. With a major mission: continuous, lifelong learning. Today, the ambition is still the same, strong and unifying...
The history of the club
Behind every great achievement, there is a dream, creative minds, human beings in search of "something else". Behind the Lyceum Club is Constance Smedley and her friends, Londoners determined to create a place of knowledge for women. The club was founded at the beginning of the 20th century and continues to spread its ambitions today. A total of 17 countries have joined the movement, each with its own women's club, a non-political, non-sectarian forum for exchange and knowledge.
The activities
By joining the club, you will have the opportunity to take part in activities that are as diverse as they are varied, as exciting as they are relevant. Conferences, visits to cultural associations, organised trips... you'll be able to forge deep links and friendships with our other members while continuing to learn, share points of view and feed yourselves with culture (with a capital C).
A team ready to listen
If you would like to join our women's association, please don't hesitate to contact us. Do you have any questions? Would you like to find out more about our approach and our activities? We're always happy to hear from you, either by phone or by email (using the form on this website). The Lyceum Club welcomes you.
